Dr. Julie Howard has joined the thousands of chiropractors who are turning to advanced technology to look more closely at your nervous system and your overall health!
You may have thought about seeing a chiropractor because you are in pain. However, my focus as a chiropractor is the function of your central nervous system. Some general information regarding the nervous system follows:
. There are three primary branches of the central nervous system.
. the sensory nervous system transmits pain to your brain
. this only makes up about 8-12% of the nervous system -- so we should not focus on just the sensory nervous system to determine how healthy you are
. the autonomic nervous system controls your organs, glands and blood vessels - all the activities you don't have to think about
. the motor nervous system controls the muscles --[more information regarding surface EMG]
. We now have a computer that measures the two more important branches of the central nervous system, called the Insight Subluxation Station!
This graphic illustrates the branches of the nervous system. See how tiny the "bubble" is that represents the sensory nervous system?

Once you begin care here, Dr. Howard will discuss your history and then perform the Insight Subluxation Station scans to calculate your NeuroSpinal Functional Index score (NSFi). There are a total of five tests that are included in this calculation - thermal, sEMG, heart rate variability, algometry (pain mapping), and range of motion.

During your second visit with Dr. Howard, she will show you your scans, discuss your NSFi score with you, and discuss your goals for your health with you. You will then be given a recommended plan of care for the first month. At the end of this month (and every month), you will be re-scanned with the thermal and sEMG technology to check your progress. Your NSFi score will be re-calculated every three months until you achieve your goal.
With this amazing new technology, Dr. Howard can be certain that your overall health is improving by monitoring the function of your nervous system. This moves the focus of your health care from symptom care (pain) to actual health care. Once your goals are achieved according to your NSFi score, you will then be able to move into wellness care. You will have the opportunity to be seen and scanned on an ongoing, less frequent basis to continue to function at the high level of health that you desire.
Keep in mind that other members of your family and your friends also have nervous systems and should have them scanned to determine if they are functioning at optimum levels as well!
