Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest medical procedures in the world. It originated in China over 2000 years ago and has been gaining popularity in the US in recent years. The 2002 National Health Interview Survey reported that an estimated 8.2 million American adults had used acupuncture.
Traditional Chinese Medicine views the body as a delicate balance of two opposing and inseparable forces of yin and yang. Health is achieved by maintaining balance between these forces. Disease is due to an internal imbalance of yin and yang that leads to a blockage in the flow of qi along the meridians in the body.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have listed many conditions that can be helped with the use of acupuncture. Some of these conditions include: nausea, vomiting, addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headaches, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, and osteoarthritis of the knee. Other practitioners of acupuncture have found wonderous results with using acupuncture in addition to chiropractic care for other conditions as well including incontinence, PMS, allergies, infertility, and many others.
