Tai Chi

Tai Chi was developed hundreds of years ago in China. To this day, many people in China practice Tai Chi on a daily basis. Tai Chi is not only an exercise, but a way to improve health and overall wellness.

Tai Chi can be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined. There are a number of forms which consist of a sequence of movements. many of these movements are originally derived from the martial arts, although the way they are performed in Tai Chi is slowly, softly, and gracefully with smooth and even transitions between them.

Improve Body

Tai chi can provide relief from many different aches and pains. It is a safe exercise for people of all ages because it is done slowly and with control. Some of the health benefits of Tai Chi include: improved balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, stamina, bone density, immune function, breathing and sleep. Tai chi can also help reduce the effects of arthritis, high blood pressure, poor circulation and stress.

Improve Mind

Tai Chi can help you relax and meditate while moving through the forms. This meditation will help focus the mind. This added focus can improve your mood, memory, and overall sense of well-being.

Improve Spirit

As Tai Chi helps you become healthier and less prone to the effects of stress, you can find yourself feeling happier and more at peace in your daily life.

Class Information

Tai Chi classes are currently on hold. We are in the process of searching for a new instructor. If you have information about an instructor, please pass it along. Once we get someone hired for the position, we will resume classes. We apologize for thei nconvenience but are working to correct the situation!

The classes are held at the location of the Nebraska Hapkido Association at 116 South 6th Street in Plattsmouth. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm beginning April 02, 2007.

Costs: For new students, there are two lesson fee possibilities:

1)

$135 to start pays for three months of lessons - all students will be given a free uniform

2)

$150 - payable with $80 initially and $70 the following month - this pays for three months of lessons and a uniform
after the initial three months - the monthly fee for classes is $45.00

The "three month start" is so that the students will give the martial art enough time to decide whether or not it is for them. Many students find out that acquiring skill in the martial arts takes work, and hard work at that. As such, many students drop out after 2 weeks because it seems too difficult. If they had given it a chance for three months, they would have decided differently - so the initial costs make it more likely that the student will give it a reasonable chance.
